*cracks whip in non-kinky way*

Ok kids - time to get crackin'. There is a serious lack of the essential youness. Without you, this would be a blog of lame-Danielle poetry and doggerel which would be pretty depressing (like Santa without cookies - tsooper depressing). In order to get our collective ball rolling I have concocted the following prompts:

- You’ve just become a student at Hogwarts, and you need to make some basic decisions about school life in the world of wizards- Namely who you will form a posse with and whether or not you think the Chudley Cannons will win the World Cup. (or any other wizardly ideas that apparate into thy brane)

-Grab a pair of dice, Roll em, Create stories based on the numbers that are showing.
So, if you roll:
1 = Gum on someone's shoe
2 = Monster running from and angry mob
3 = The thoughts of shag carpeting
4 =Rollerblades
5 = an obnoxious cell phone ringtone
6 = A bite of peach pie
So, with two dice you’ll get twice the numbers and you can combine two of the above.

-Write about the first thing that comes to mind when you see this:

READY. SET. AWESOME!!!!

11:35 AM

The cacophony was tremendous. Somehow the sound had an atmosphere of its own - densely swallowing all it touched in a drowsy haze of noise. It swirled around, multi-colored yet gray, pulsing just above the figures moving about on the ground. The figures on the ground seemed unimpressed and were more intent on writing their names in the air with small, twinkling noises. In the midst of all this din stood a curiously inconsequential girl. She really was something - not tall, not short, not ugly, but not beautiful. She would be indescribably ordinary were it not for the fact that she was standing quite still while looking intently upwards to the source of the riotous noise no one was listening to. Despite the weight of the sounds all around her, she seemed compelled to listen -as if there was a earnestness and sincerity beneath it all. Every so often she'd slowly walk to another place in the crowd, following the intermittent spots of color that faded in and out of sight, only to pause and look at it conversationally once again. As time went on, her body seemed more weary

and time. Sorry I didn't finish, but that was 15 minutes. Maybe I'll finish it later - I kinda dig it. Cool prompt Christine!

the sting

He liked feel the wind inch over every bit of him, without having to do the work of actually flying. The air rushed at him in a speed that he would never experience on his own. The windshield wipers were made specifically for him to just sit and enjoy the breeze. He began turning in circles and noticed the giant human, eyes wide, staring at him. What’s the big deal? No harm no foul. But no, the giant felt threatened by something that was one millionth its size. His ledge sprung to life and flipped him through the air and at another on coming vehicle. Caught completely by surprise, he jet up towards the heavens, regained his stand and found the vehicle that had flung him without mercy, and sped towards it with death defying speeds. Thankfully, the beast was stopped on the road, and the back window was open. He flew in, fierce and angry, buzzing around till he found his target. It tried to flip him away with its hand. This only made him more angry. An obscenely high pitched shriek filled the vehicle as his last act consisted of him stabbing the fiend with the only weapon he possessed.

Prompts

Alright, Danielle, having tagged me for the next writer, you may be disappointed to discover that I've chosen to interpret "writer" as "poster" and therefore, this post will contain none of my own personal creative writing. Tough beans. I'm proposing an exercise for the blog: I'm going to post a prompt (adapted from my spectacular list I wrote to Amanda once upon a time) and you guys have to respond with 15 minutes or so of writing from the prompt.

I considered posting all or a bunch of prompts in one entry, then thought to myself "dang, there's just too much gold here for one prompt. We need to spread the wealth." So there'll be two prompts. You can choose one or the other.

No worries, I'll respond to my own prompts too.

So prompt #1:

· Note where you are at exactly 11:35 that day—write something beautiful/profound/wry about what that moment contains

Prompt #2:

· Choose 5 people you know (yeah... one can be me. And one can be you). If they were a vegetable/car/animal/candy bar/shirt/style of music... what would they be?

Accomplished

Hullo, hullo!

As self declared blog herald, I officially declare this awesomeness open for business!! If you don't like the background, I can change that easy peasy - just let me know.
For my first donation I bring one of my very poorly written poems. Enjoy!

_-Accomplished-_

I've become a very accomplished young lady.

I always politely wait half a second
before promptly, and subtly stuffing
my strangly tasting foot
into my mouth-
stoppering the un-ending flow
of foolish wisdom
as my independent, stubborn lips
see fit to bring to enlightenment

and

I often keep my pinkies up
whilst prudently punching
and blacking out eyes of those
who would advise me
on the most ladylike pose
to stick it to the man

and

I almost never forget to ignore
chivalry as directed to my sex
for as we may be fair in sensation
we typically do not seek it as an occupation
and much prefer to make the unfair sex
grovel to gain our attention

and

I happened upon propriety
while I crossed my arms and stared
at the legion of matchmakers with determined gaits
letting my eyebrows tell them
to pursue me if they dared

and...

I too often think too little
of the things that I've been granted
for while I protest my blessings
and deny truth
I am suddenly grateful for what I've been handed

and....

How do you curtsy again?
